Lyle Walker
Connecting Environmental Professionals
Urban Planner, Project Manager

Lyle Walker is a volunteer with the Vancouver-based Connecting Environmental Professionals (CEP) since its inception in 2002.   CEP is a not-for-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to promoting opportunities for capacity building, career development and networking for environmental and sustainability professionals.  CEP is a chapter of the national organization 'Young Environmental Professionals', which has more than 500 members in the cities of Vancouver, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto. 

Lyle is also an Urban Planner and Project Manager with The Sheltair Group Resource Consultants in Vancouver.  Lyle has ten years of experience in long-range and sustainability planning, including working on growth management strategies, sustainability plans, community energy plans, indicator projects, population and housing projections, and various land use planning and transportation studies. 

Lyle was a key member of the citiesPLUS team that won an International Urban Systems Design Competition in 2003 for the development of a 100-year sustainability plan for Greater Vancouver.  Recent long-range planning work includes leading a consulting team that updated the District of Squamish’s Official Community Plan.  Lyle was also a member of a consulting consortium that developed Squamish’s Growth Management Strategy.  Lyle has also led a project to design the Capital Regional District’s monitoring and indicator program for its regional growth strategy.  In addition, Lyle has worked with several communities in BC in conducting residential built-out analyses.   

Before joining The Sheltair Group in 2001, Lyle worked for four years in a research role on a regional growth strategy and various transportation projects for the Capital Regional District in Victoria.
